New Build.

New Build.

Postby A7RIXl3LUE » Fri May 31, 2013 8:47 pm

hello, all, long time no post but im embarking on a New build SOOOOOOOOOON.

what i have already.
thermaltake armour case with thermal take mosfet cooler water tank, alphacool res and pump.

what i im embarking on.

im moving away from intel emote_derranged because an intel build is way too costly these days :( so im embarking on an AMD build.

the brain

AMD piledriver am3+ fx8 8 core black edition cpu @ 4ghz 4.2 on turbo, overclockable to about 5.2 on air beyond with water and right board.

asus ROG formula mobo, it the only board that has sata 3 6bs and usb 3.0 and onbourd soundblaster available to the amd am3+ support chipset, so ive really locked myself into a courner on mobo choice here havent i.

graphics wise, im going crossfire, with mid end cards amd xfx HD7870 2gb gddr5 256bit cards, looks cool and xfx are a brand i can trust having a 9800gtx that lasted almost 4 years trouble free without the fan issue's that Nvidia had with them andother brands, im not impressed with the gainward GTX550 ti golden sample i have right now, there seems to be issues with software and the more and more nvidia update the drivers the more the card slows down FPS wise and heats up, so on the 300 family drivers it runs really hot now from being 52 under BO2 load with mid settings im on low settings and running at about 72 deg celcius, the card with expertool running the fan on full cycle 100% my FPS on low settings around 70-190, if i go higher setting i get stutters and nothing dies.

crucial tactical 8gb memory ddr3 2x4gb, will go higher later on in the year with a 16GB system.

samsung 840 250GB SSD

im going to need a better PSu to run crossfire config so opted with xfx 850w pro series.

water block

pipe work

and other little bits would complete it.

total spend £1040.00 same type of system but only a 6 care amd processor is £1800 without water and 2x cards. so i estimate that my system would cost £2000 to buy if i had bought as all in one.

holly bejeebus batman.... have you won the lottery lately or taken up doing sexual favour for welsh sheep on your street corner?

Looks like it will be a good build - now don't go burn it out overclocking it as soon as you get it :p

Seems like a nice config Atrix.

Altho I'm not so sertain about the XFX.
I got a xfx 260 gtx black edition and to be honnoust I'm going back to ASUS. My card has some heathing trouble since I smashed my 1920x1080 res monitor on there :p.
Seems like the fan is not auto changing to the heath, so now its running stable by fiddling with some programs. But I can't ask everything of the card at the moment or it dies on me :(.
Not saying XFX is bad, just sharing the less good experience I'm having with one of there cards...

ok so me an confu have been discussing cards, theres a few varients between xfx range on the 7870 range.

black i know youve had a bad deal on the xfx range xfx have redesigned that heat problem, with their GHOST heatsink hardware they have learned lessons from past designes identified it and put a hell of cooling system onto the cards.

confu has problem as he lives in sweden most things have to be imported for him wich is a bit :loop.

so ive identified a high mid end card, that i think will suit a crossfire config, A7RIXl3LUE has found a euro 3 seller!!
check it out confu, http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007MUKAMO and the sellers details http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aag/details/ ... _legalInfo

foggy said to research and make sure AMD ATI is what you wanna go for,ive done a bit of research and i find no major concerns about AMD and windows 8, ati drivers seems to be lackluster in pre emtpive release drivers for games like nvidia offer, i can only conclude that ati wish to make sure the drivers they release a driver that are fully compatable to the game being released so dont release a compatable driver untill a week or two after a game release, like allways there no phys-x- support on a ATI GPU, but thats no big one as AMD has a program to put the phys-x- to CPU bound rather than nvidia card being onbourd GPU intergration. ive also seen AMD system with ATI have no issues with win8 my mum has a amd win8 system id does a welll good job IMHO with windows sys rating the system above 8.1 on all aspects.

like i said im not one to stick to a name such as nvidia and intel, all i want is the most for my money that will give me enough to run what i like.

pauly pauly pauly, no i would have thought that you would think about the comment made above!
the saying down here about that comment is: we F*&k'em you eat'em.
ill saver the thought when you think about what i just posted when you put a peice of succulent welsh lamb into your mouth! :rofl :lol :yeah :lool :D.
