Postby d3an » Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:12 pm

Firtsly hello to both of you, long time no see :D

thought i would start a thread to discuss you connection issue.

connection issue as described in the shoutbox

both cant get in the same server on BF3

info required for discussion

Questions
1. How many Routers? 1 x Router?
2. connection = wired or wireless?
3. pc ip address = fixed or roaming?
4. any other issues with gaming ts or any other software?? BFBC2?? etc
5. router type??
6. have you tried changing any of the above to check?
7. can you try a temporary mobile doggle to split the connection?
8. can you get hold of another router or 2 to trial and/or have you tried wired instead of wireless or the other way round depending on question 2

i'm sure we can figure this out to get you both on action_tease1 :nice

anyone else got any other relevant questions emote_derranged

Hi guys. Thx for helping out about this issue

I already spent hours in searching technical threads about this an trying out different stuff.

Situation:

We have Speedport Router W722V running.
dhcp enabled. no upnp (its not working on this router)

Yes - we both have our own computer. Both running Win7 64 bit, everyone has his own game key.
upnp checked in window. seems to be off.
Both computers are connected via LAN.

We can both play bf3 at the same time. But not on the same Server.
As soon as we try to join the Server one of us is playing on already the one who is on the Server gets kicked.

I already tried different things.

Portforwarding
Pord-Redirecting
Changing Ports in Win Firewall
Adding a port to the bf3.exe
static ip
action_thinking2

Next will be to use an old router I have. Just to see if it is caused be the router we use.

Until now we made it to join the same server just once. It was an empty server I joined just to
see if it works. It was after we added the +clientport 27013 and at 2nd com +clientport 27018
behind the bf3.exe
After we left and tried to join another server we had the "old" problem again.

Any suggestions about possilbe solutions are highly appreciated. coms_dontknow

Thanks in advance.

Try the extra client port on only one of the computers. The tunngle thingy is supposed to take care of the port directing/assignments so you don't have to do the changes on both pc's at the same time. Which is why changing stuff on only one pc might work.

One way round this would have been to add a different client port to run the game with - a simple command line port in your shortcut for BF3. Sadly BF3 will only work with one port for now so that wont help.

The problem does appear to be your router. Many people have reported no problems running 2 games on the same server from 1 internet connection.

The one person I found on ea's forum that had the same problem as you, also had the same brand of router - a speedport.

One person with a Sspeedport has had success using this page:

http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... ield_3.htm

Most of the poeple who have had the same problem as you but using different routers has got it to work by disabling upnp but you said you have tried this.

Well, I hope there is something in there of use... good luck but if all else fails see if you can borrow a router from someone to test.

Uri you said static ip ? Do you get one ip or more ?
If you have more try to use a switch , dont cost much and work
Better if you ask me . From readong the post above
It sure sound like your router is the problem.

Hope it get sorted asap , gl :)

TCP-IP4_Settings.jpg
As you can imagine I already was pretty pissed about bf3 and the speedport.

Now I tried a different way to solve it without changing any hardware and finally i made it to join
with both computers on the same server several times in a row.

Solution:

Router W722V - DHCP on.

1. Computer is not touched by any settings. So it always gets an IP in the LAN given by DHCP.
2. Computer --> Changed the network settings. It as fix ip outside of the DHCP range. In this
case i chose the 192.168.2.253, --> look at the screenshot

Afterwards I went to the router and added a Port - Redirecting rule:

I hope this information helps in the case another one has the same problem.

Thanks anyway for all the friendly offers to solve it.

While everyone searches for hard difficult technical solutions, Tieke always comes up with the easy way solution that's always a win win situation.

And thats why we love him action_hug
