A few Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 multiplayer details may have been leaked via a thread on Activision's forums, which was later taken down by the publisher. The game hasn't even officially been announced, so you should keep in mind that posts like this often show up for upcoming games, claiming details that are later proven false. But, until Activision comes along and tells us otherwise, it's fun to speculate, right?

When Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing originally spoke on the next Call of Duty game, he said, "This year we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand. From what we've seen to date, the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovations to the franchise."
•NEWS: Modern Warfare 3 DLC Pack Adds Four Maps, Two Spec Ops Missions On March 20

The most important information we found while scouring the post was the alleged Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release date. According to the post, the first-person-shooter has an expected release date of November 6, 2012. There will be a new multiplayer game mode, Escort, and Kill Confirmed from Modern Warfare 3 will make a return.

Read on for all of the details.

Game Modes
•Escort, a new game mode. • Similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed.
•The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.

•Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return
•Team Defender and Infected will not return

Pointstreaks
•Will follow from Modern Warfare 3’s system
•Larger emphasis on objectives
•A bomb plant is worth 2 points
•A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2
•A flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2
•The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified
•2 kills now gets you 1 perk
•The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks
•The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks
•The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks
•You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills
•Perks only become “Pro” when you have them Pro
•RC XD will not return
•Heat vision is a new Pointstreak reward. When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon. • This scopes main advantage is it’s ability to detect enemies through most walls. Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns

Item Packages
•Requires 5 points
•Fall along side care packages and air drop traps.
•Features a list of package items only Including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armor

Prestiges
•There will be 15 prestiges
•There will be 50 ranks
•Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase
•The final prestige has 90 levels

ELITE 2.0
•ELITE is being fully incorporated into Black Ops 2
•Combat record has been modified and re-named as ELITE Stats
•There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of leveling clans)
•Clan Tournaments can now be implemented

Removed
•No MOAB or Nuke
•No last stand
•No death streaks
•No flame thrower attachment

Map Design
• Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3

Sniper Rifles
• Improved sniper rifle usage.
• No aim assist for any sniper rifle.
• Less sway

Customization
•No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance
•Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used.

Hardcore
•Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before
•No grenade launchers
•Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted
•Respawn timings decreased (for most modes)
•1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required.
•A person will now bleed out if severely injured.

Perk System 2.0
•The Perk Pro system has been upgraded
•There is now 2 options a perk can advance to.
•Both require different challenges to unlock
•Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their “Perk Pro”.
•Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode.
•For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed •Speed – Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight •Pro I – Swaps weapons faster
•Pro II – Throws equipment faster

Combat Training
•Will be returning with vast improvements.
•Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting.
•Bots now have an advance AI system
•Similar to the behavior seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival

Remember, this is all unconfirmed information. But if even some of it turned out to be true, what do you like about the additions?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will likely make an appearance at this years E3, so keep an eye on our E3 2012 page.

What do you mean, they've tried to go bf? Did I miss something?

One thing I did notice is that it's set in 2025 - hence the few futuristic looking gadgets... not sure if I like the sound of that. I wont get excited about this game, but that doesn't mean I wont get it. I'm sure I'll be (more) bored of BF3 by then.

I think they've also been a bit optomistic about the kind of gadgets and planes and technology we are going to have around in the next 12 years... I suspect that in 12 years, battlefields will look pretty much as they do now... I think this looks more like it's set in 2075 not 2025.

humm that actually looked less futuristic than i thought it woud... though the graphics on that old engine are really looking dated now. My concernIs it so close to Black Ops game play that it feels just like DLC to the original and so gets boring really quick?

I dont think im excited about any games these days - they all seem to be a let down in many ways.

I assume this must be console footage or he has gfx settings low. I would think it will look much better at release.

Black confirmed it was console footage. PC should hopefully look better.

The COD black ops 2 vid is indeed console. In the beginning it gives him the tip for what key to jump over the rock, and that looks pretty much as a console button :)

How many maps did Black Ops release with?

Bops 2 only has 7 maps :o

1.Aftermath: Ruins of downtown Los Angeles after a drone attack.
2.Cargo: Docks of Singapore, where cargo containers are constantly moving and changing the shape of cover in the map.
3.Turbine: Wind farm in the desert plains of Yemen, Turbine is a large, open map, with the ability to climb on everything.
4.Yemen: Urban street fight with tight alleyways and lots of changing elevation to the battle.
5.Overflow: Great Urban engagements in the flood littered streets of Peshawar, Pakistan.
6.Express: Los Angeles bullet train station with good long to medium engagements up and down the train tracks.
7.Hijacked: Luxurious super yacht with frantic, yet controlled close quarters engagements.

That doesn't seem very many... though I guess zombies and single player will add a bit of extra playability.

Though the extra attention on HC mode and the escort game mode posted by conf seems interesting.

Can maybe relax a bit... it looks like the wiki hasnt been updated: I've found a few sites now with this map list:

• Carrier: "Chinese Supercarrier. Open engagements on the deck, with great close quarter fights through the hull."
• Cargo: "Port of Singapore. Good for close quarters engagements and verticality."
• Drone: "Hidden drone facility in the heart of the Mynamar jungles. Great long engagements down the center, fun close quarter fights through the facility."
• Express: "Los Angeles bullet train station. Good long to medium engagements up and down the bullet train tracks."
• Hijacked: "Luxurious super yacht. Frantic, yet controlled close quarters engagements.
• Aftermath: "Set in a ruined downtown Los Angeles after an invasion."
• Meltdown: "Pakistan nuclear power plant. Battle for control of the nuclear cooling tower and the surrounding facilities."
• Nightclub: "Floating resort in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Tight corners and angles throughout."
• Overflow: "Peshawar, Pakistan. Great urban engagements in the flooded streets."
• Raid: "Fight through this hillside mansion, in the Hollywood Hills. Hectic close quarters engagements."
• Slums: "Run down section of Panama. Great close quarters engagements and tough chokes to fight over."
• Socotra: Update: Originally "Yemen" as seen in the Black Ops 2 Gamescom live streams. "Urban streets of Yemen. Tight alleys and close quarters engagements."
• Turbine: "Wind farm in the steep hills of Yemen. Fight across the different tiers and angles."
• Village: "Border town between China and Kyrgyzstan. Classic engagements and destinations to fight over."

Plus the pre-order nuketown map.

This list isnt confirmed though.

Bad new for Black Ops 2

Treyarch, the developer is fronting dedicated servers around the globe, but it’s not releasing the server files or allowing users to rent servers, meaning Treyarch staff will be the only ones able to wield the ban hammer.

Cheating will be managed by a combination of VAC and Treyarch’s own technology, and the developer will man a dedicated anti-cheating team, as well, so that should go some way to addressing complaints of wannabe admins. Not the last one, though: there will be no mod support for Black Ops 2. Nuts. In any case, the shooter launches in November
.

This mean you can not rent a server! No private games / no choice of maps or rotations or rules - every server will be just stand rules and rotations for the game.

I'm gutted about this and now thinking about whether I really want to buy the game or not.

Warned you it was way to quiet about those dedicated servers.

It could turn out good, and it could turn out bad. Depends on how this dedicated team will work.
The only positive thing I see on this is no random kicking of good players like confusion (he manages to get kicked in every darn game :p)

What I hope is that they have built something in the backend that logs sertain parameters, and they use that partially to ban, kick whatever. Altho sertain "hacks" are visual and will be harder.

I geuss we'll see what it brings. Now they got my intressed in there game (just cause I wonder how this will be handled)

What anti-cheat will be used?

Anti-cheat is a top priority for Call of Duty®: Black Ops II. We have developed our own proprietary server-side anti-cheat technology which will work alongside VAC to deliver the most advanced detection and banning capabilities of any Call of Duty game to date. We have also improved our player reporting system to make it the most effective way that you can help us catch cheaters. And starting on launch day we will have a full-time dedicated pc anti-cheat team focused solely on detecting and banning cheaters. We have a zero tolerance policy on cheating. Cheaters bans are permanent.

Will Black Ops have Matchmaking or Dedicated Servers?

Both! Call of Duty®: Black Ops II PC combines matchmaking with secure ranked dedicated servers. This means that you get into Public Matches or League Play via matchmaking lobbies. It is easy to party up and play with your friends. You can adjust your classes or scorestreaks between matches. It also means that every Public or League match is hosted on a dedicated server running in one of our high bandwidth datacenters around the globe.

Will you release the server files?

No. We are keeping the server files secure to protect the game from hacking and cheating and ensure the ranking and progression system integrity.

Can I rent a server?

No. We are providing a huge number of servers around the world at no extra charge – plenty for everyone to enjoy. And we will administer the servers.

Will there be mod tools?

No. As we continually improve and advance our in-house tools for our own content teams we are unable to provide consumer tools due to increased technical requirements, licensing restrictions, and technology dependencies.

hey m8, i think most think its kinda good as we has been playing it
all the time with "to" many members online at same time..
The matchmaking thing is shiaaaaaat and its kinda hard to get all on same team when most maps are
around 12 ppl big. Not that many ppl want to play against 6-7 JO on one side if you know what i meant.

If your a fan of Softcore ( its just called Core here) you going to love this game, it got all the favours and with that
i talk about all the gametypes, league play & party games. but as most of us nubs we want hard core and there are
you limited to just 3 gametypes and most maps are to small to get all the JO on same side. I think its only Domination and Killcount ( i think its called like that) can support bigger ppl online at same time..

But did you like Bops 1 you like this . almost the same but better Maps.

Dont know if its going to be a squad match game for us but you can use play with team tactics if you like..

btw Fly it only took 1 day to get called a cheat action_threaten lol

Yup, pretty good sum up from confusion. Sad that HC is limited which is why I'm mainly going to learn to play the Core game mode to be able to take full advantage of the game. I even quite like the built in league play which could be fun. Haven't really experienced it properly yet because too many people bailed out - but could be interesting to see how your little squad is progresing on the feedback sheet at the end of games.

Confusion copes with the Core mode well and is a killing machine, damn him - I'm still a nub at softcore, but I'll get there once I get used to it. As I remember it - you prefered softcore in Bops 1, so you should be ok too.

The one thing I do know... If I had to stick to hardcore only (playing just TDM and CTF), I wouldn't be playing this game in about 6 weeks time.
